Route 62 Mountain Adventures is owned and operated by David Webster from Rainbow Glen accommodation in Montagu. David has been living in Montagu for the past 15 years. Route 62 Mountain Adventures offers guided Rock Climbing Tours, Guided Mountain Biking Tours and Guided Hiking Tours in the Montagu Route 62 area.

 

David is an experienced qualified and registered Adventure Tourism Guide. David is an avid rock climber with over 20 years of experience climbing and hiking in the Western Cape Mountains. He is also a keen mountain biker with good local knowledge of the best routes to ride.

Tony Lourens has been involved in climbing and mountaineering for over 40 years and has climbed, trekked and guided extensively in many countries around the world. He is passionate about all things climbing and loves to explore new places and climb in as many different areas as possible.

 

Tony has been a guide and instructor in mountaineering, climbing and trekking since 1992 and has guided numerous nationalities from around the world, as well as many locals, and enjoys a very high success rate and a 100% safety record. 

 

He has been instrumental in the development of many new climbing routes in Montagu, and now resides permanently in Montagu with his wife, Patsy.

Justin Lawson has been climbing for 33 years and is a registered Adventure Guide (Tourist Guide Registration Number: WC 7055). He holds a First Aid Certification and is fully insured to operate as a climbing and abseiling guide. In 1996, Justin earned his SARA Level 1 River Guide qualification.

 

The following year, he completed his Level 3 First Aid Certification. By 1999, he became one of the first individuals in South Africa to qualify as a Single Pitch Supervisor. A proud member of the Mountain Club of South Africa since 1997, Justin has climbed extensively at destinations across South Africa, the USA, the UK, Austria, Italy, and Thailand.

Flying Feet offers guided town tours, including historical and art tours, ghost tours, hiking and cycling tours. Flying Feet can customize tours; most tours are also available as walking tours. You can rent a bicycle and explore Montagu on your own. We have Dutch bicycles, mountain bikes and town e-bikes available for rent. 

Our bicycles are Dutch-style, single-speed, backpedal, well-loved town bikes. Nothing fancy. Just wheels and pedals.

Makadas Adventures

Makadas Adventures is all about mountain bike fun, adventure and cycling tours in the Klein Karoo. They are a mountain bike event company based in the Montagu Klein Karoo Western Cape. Makadas Adventures offers many mountain bike events throughout the year, cycling tours, and training camps.

Patti Van Dyk Field Guide

Patti van Dyk is a native of Ashton but has established herself in Montagu since finishing school. Patti is qualified as a Field Guide/Nature Site Tourist Field Guide through The Nature College in Riversdale and is officially registered.

Patti also has a background in nature conservation due to studies I pursued in that field. Additionally, Patti has years of experience in veld and forest fire fighting training.

 

As a Field Guide, she accompanies people from all walks of life on hiking trips in the area, during which I share insights about the environment as a whole, including plants, wildlife, geology, ecology, and more. The hikes are usually completed within a day, but they can be extended over several days if requested.

Where the incident/ emergency occurred, including: a physical description and map, or other coordinates (learn to use them). Which route or trail you are on, or close to; closest access points etc. c) The level of the leaders'/ groups experience (including first aid) and what clothing, equipment, sustenance and water etc. to hand. 8) If outside help is requested, it is vital to listen carefully to questions asked, have answers ready (as best you can), pay attention to any instructions given and keep mobile phones 'lines' open so that you can be easily contacted.
